Wind energy integration in Africa: development, impacts and barriers

<span>The African renewable energy initiative (AREI), adopted in 2015 by nearly half of the countries, planned to install 10 GW end 2020 and 300 2030, which 100 would be wind. These countries have each their own national strategy defining rate electricity capacity, particularly wind, overall mix and/or 2030. This article aims assess implementation these strategies evaluating up-to-date achievements regards wind thus infer AREI realization 2020. It focuses on investments major while comparing effective rates with those targeted strategies. also covers impact integration barriers its development Africa. Taking into account recent study published Global Wind Energy Council assessed potential Africa at 59 TW, obtained results show that huge power is still far from being exploited only Morocco, Egypt South are right track.</span>
